Malcolm Holt

Business Development Manager

I grew up in east Tennessee, just 30 minutes from the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. My father owned an agricultural supply bussiness, and I spent many hours there listening and learning from the previous two generations of growers. This created in me a deep respect for the growers that have fed this country for the last 80 years. Also, this developed a desire to be able to work in this industry and face the ever-changing challenges within it. We eventually sold the business in 2007, and I went on to work in another industry, but my heart was still in agriculture.

I am very thankful for the opportunity to work with the team here at Riogen. From my first interview, I knew that I wanted to be a part of this team. We share the same passion to strive to find solutions for the many challenges our farmers and ranchers across America face, and bring better opportunities for our youth to stay in the industry.

I moved to Des Moines, IA in 2015. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a certified knife sharpener and often use that as a way to destress in the evenings so that I will be keen the next day. I also very much enjoy nature, whether it is seeing the color of the fall leaves in east Tennessee, or watching a mama grizzly show her cubs how to dig for grubs before the long winter. I have been to all lower 48 states and am in awe of the variety of what this country provides for both enjoyment and opportunities to its citizens. I feel each of us has a responsibility to be good stewards and have a positive influence on the generations to follow!
