eric's large soil experiment on milo & wheat fields
Eric Lobmeyer - Tribune, Kansas
Crops
- Wheat
- Milo
Fast Facts
- Got 30-40 bushels of wheat while others in the county were getting 20-25
- Increased his wheat test weight AND protein content
- 2-3 inches taller wheat
- 2-3 times bigger root structures
- Increased his soil organic matter
- Better plant health
- Combated iron cirrhosis
- Went from raising nothing in one area to 30-40 bushels of milo
Eric's the first to admit it - his ideas turn into experiments, which then turn into large experiments. This can go both ways...
Eric is NOT a fan of 'bug in a jug' products for his soil. As he puts it "we have our own microbes out here and they're suited for this country. Why add something that could kill each other off?" When Eric heard about Rhyzogreen and found out that it WAS NOT a bug in a jug, he decided to give it a try on his wheat & milo.
Compared to fellow farmers in his county, he had 2-3 inches taller wheat, which ended up resulting in 10-20 more bushels per acre. On his milo, his ground went from producing nothing to producing 30-40 bushels. Besides the increases in yield, Eric also noticed bigger root structures and better water infiltration, which is really important in dry Kansas.
